Mashed Potatoes

This recipe takes about 30 minutes to make

Ingredients
1 medium-large potato for each person
Milk
Butter
Salt & pepper

Equipment
Pot
Vegetable peeler
Sharp knife
Colander (strainer)
Potato masher or fork
Stove

Procedure
  1. Peel the potato(es), rinse under cold water and cut into quarters
  2. Put the potato(es) in the pot and cover with water, add a pinch of salt
  3. Put the pot on the stove on high heat, bring to a boil (large bubbles) and cook until you can easily pierce a potato piece with a fork or knife
  4. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Put pot back on the stove on very low heat and let dry out for a couple of minutes
  5. Add a pat (1-2 tsps) of butter for each potato and mash the potatoes until there are no more large pieces
  6. Add a splash of milk (start small, you can always add more) and mash some more. Add more milk, a little at a time until it's the consistency you like.
  7. Add salt and pepper, taste and add more if you need to
Serve with another pat of butter on top.
